The number of citizens who prefer the environmental friendly means of transportation, which is taking the ferry with the bicycle, has gradually increased with the application. In March, a record number was reached. While the number of citizens who prefer to take the ferry with their bicycles was 7 thousand 14 in March of 2021, this rate increased one hundred percent in March 2022 and reached 14 thousand 456. In the first three months of 2021, the number of boarding was 19 thousand 469, and it has increased by 82 percent in the first three months of 2022 to 35 thousand 380.

Owl Night Services

OBJECTIVE
With the vision of “a city that breathes 24 hours a day”, it is aimed to make life easier in İzmir with the “Owl Services” in maritime transportation and rail system, as well as buses, in order to provide the citizens with the opportunity to move around the clock. 24/7 public transportation

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
The “Owl Services” , which are valid on buses within the scope of the “Public Transportation Mobilization” of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, are also implemented in the maritime transportation and rail system. In this context, the ferries operating between Karşıyaka-Alsancak, Karşıyaka Tram and İzmir Metro have started night services. Our night services continue on main lines 910 (Gaziemir – Konak), 920 (Çiğli – Konak), 930 (Bornova – Konak), 940 (Buca – Konak) and 950 (Narlıdere Konak).

OBJECTIVE
It is aimed to make transportation services more preferable with the possibility of taking the public transportation vehicles with contactless credit, debit and prepaid cards.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality; with the cooperation of Visa and İşbank, the convenience of taking public transportation vehicles with contactless credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards throughout the city is expanding. The system, which has been applied since January on the ESHOT bus lines operating to Adnan Menderes Airport and at the Üçkuyular Ferry Pier ticket offices for a while, will be available on ESHOT and İZULAŞ buses, metro, tram and İZDENİZ ships as of Sunday, June 5th.

It is an application where visually impaired passengers with the “Disabled İzmirim Card” can send a notification to the bus they want to take, it notifies the bus driver about which stop the passanger is waiting, and through the audible warning, visually impaired person can learn that their bus has arrived at the bus stop without needing help. The system also notifies the visually impaired passenger at the stop they want to get off at. The application has been put into service via ESHOT Mobile.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
With the Alsancak Indoor Parking Lot Service System, free ring services are available connecting the 4 indoor parking lots in Alsancak. In addition, other applications and bike rack application are implemented by installing bike racks on the front of the buses for cyclists, providing comfortable and convenient travel to cyclists.

Transportation Integration Center Project

OBJECTIVE
It is envisaged that the Transportation Integration Center will be designed as a management and operation center building that coordinates İzmir’s public transportation network.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
Transportation Integration Center, Units of Department of Transportation, ESHOT General Directorate, İzmir Metro, İZULAŞ, İZBAN, İZDENİZ and İZELMAN office units, a conference hall with a capacity of 246 people, with a worktable, multi-purpose halls, a “Social Courtyard” that hosts social functions, a cafeteria and sports facilities, general archive, control room, prayer room, dressing rooms, health unit, kindergarten, exhibition hall and ‘Transportation Themed’ permanent exhibition area. In addition, the underground car park for 713 vehicles located under the facility has been designed to meet the needs of the personnel and the people in the surrounding area. It is aimed to obtain 100 kW of energy with PVs. The project was completed on 22.09.2020. The Zoning Application is expected to be completed.

OBJECTIVE
The new system, which keeps all the main arteries of the city under 24-hour control and can manage the traffic, aims to offer smart intersections, traffic monitoring cameras, measurement, monitoring, violation detection systems, speed corridors under the name of İzmir Transportation Center (İZUM).

Within the scope of pedestrian priority traffic control and traffic calming practices; It is aimed to reduce the negative effects of motor vehicles in cities, to realize pedestrian priority transportation applications, to ensure integration between different transportation types and to enable safer and more comfortable movement of pedestrians in traffic.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
Pedestrian priority traffic control practices in transportation includes traffic speed restrictions, limiting the passage of vehicles at certain hour intervals, closing the vehicle traffic, parking bans, and signaling systems that ensure crossing safety. Measures to calm down the traffic includes speed limiting bumps (bumps), speed limiting platforms, elevated pedestrian crossings, elevated intersections, using rough material on the road surface, circular traffic islands, roundabouts, direction deflectors, narrowing the road from the side, narrowing the road by placing a middle island, speed control with fixed cameras, closing the road completely and partially closing the road.

Activities for the EUROVELO Cycling Tourism Route

OBJECTIVE
The aim of the EuroVelo project is to promote and coordinate the creation, support and operation of a sustainable Trans-European Transport Network throughout the Europe Continent.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
EuroVelo 8-Mediterranean Route, a long-distance cycling route from Cadiz, Spain, with a ferry connection between Athens and Southern Cyprus, has increased to 8 thousand 60 kilometers with the addition of the 500km İzmir route. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality made the necessary preparations on the route within the scope of EuroVelo works. Direction signs were placed at 650 points on the route. The website (veloizmir.org) prepared for EuroVelo promotional activities is currently active.
