Providing access to good food and clean water
With our project that started in 2012, 8 liters of milk are distributed to our children aged 1-5 once a month.
As of 2020, milk was distributed to 156 thousand 313 children in 30 districts and 601 neighborhoods.
As İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, we distribute the milk we buy from producer cooperatives in 614 neighborhoods with 58 different teams, going from door to door, with the “”8 liters per child per month”” principle.
With our project, on the one hand, milk producers who are going through hardships are supported, on the other hand, it is ensured that children in İzmir drink healthy milk and grow up healthy.

Our budget, which was 906 million TL in total in 2019, 2020 and 2021, was increased to 435 million TL in 2022.
Providing cultural services as a public service
A project carried out to deliver events to regions with limited access to culture and arts and to increase participation in culture and arts.
BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
2 mobile stages are vehicles prepared by making the necessary arrangements for performing concerts and theater performances inside the cargo transport trucks. Dozens of theater plays, concerts and talks were held on mobile stages throughout the year, especially in the outer districts and villages of the city. In addition, with its mobile library, it provides library services especially to children in regions with limited access to books.

Especially during the pandemic period, nearly 200 (2020, 2021) theater plays were performed with the mobile stage. The mobile library, which goes to a different village every day, visits the same village once in 45 days and provides access to new books. It visits 20 villages per month.

Citizens were asked to donate books from the project, which works on a voluntary basis, upon the call of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer.
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality managed the collection of the donated books, their distribution to the neighborhoods in need and the construction of the libraries. It is a project carried out jointly by the municipality and its fellow citizens.

It will continue until a library is built in every neighborhood in İzmir that does not have a library yet. The target is to establish libraries in 50 neighborhoods that demand it in the first phase.

17 thousand books have been collected so far. Within the scope of the campaign, 9 libraries were put into service. Practices continue in 8 districts.
They are events organized throughout the year to provide free access to cultural and artistic activities for the citizens of İzmir. It is aimed to provide citizens with free access to culture and art through activities such as concerts, theater and film screenings and exhibitions in all districts of İzmir.

Continuing the tradition of the village theatrical play and the farmers continuing their production in the village not only to produce agricultural products but also to continue their cultural production. It is aimed to protect cultural rights, to be involved in the production of culture and to increase access to culture.

There are “village theaters” in 11 villages in İzmir. Among them, there are well-established village theaters such as the Bademler Village Theater (1927), which will soon be 100 years old. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Village Theaters provide technical and theoretical support for the establishment of village theaters.

Currently working with 4 village theaters and this number will be increased to 8 theaters at the end of the year. There are 65 actors & actresses, playwrights and directors in 4 village theaters. To date, 6 games have been prepared and 22 representations have been made.

Providing childcare services as a public service
While it enables children between the ages of 7-14 to evaluate their time outside of school effectively and develop their skills, it aims to maintain a social support process that also includes their families.

Child and Youth Centers are centers established to support the development of children aged 7-14 in a pleasant and safe environment. Operating Child and Youth Centers, there are 9 ÇOGEM centers, namely Uzundere, Çiğli, Güzelbahçe, Toros, Örnekköy, Gümüşpala, Limontepe, Buca, Yenişehir.
Talehouses, which are activity centers where the importance of early childhood education is emphasized with the understanding of social municipality, are planned around the axis of fairy tales through games and are organized in a way to include artistic activities intertwined with nature.
BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
Talehouses are centers that include workshop practices created by considering the developmental characteristics of children aged 36 – 53 months in a holistic way. While children benefit from their own training programs according to appropriate age criteria, mothers of children who benefit from fairy tale houses are also employed in cooperation with the Vocational Factory in order to employ women in the field of employment. Participates in focused vocational and technical courses. There are a total of 14 fairy tale houses operating in Taurus, Bayraklı, Kadifekale, Tire, Örnekköy, Gümüşpala, Limontepe, Buca, Aliağa, Kemalpaşa, Kınık, Mersinli Yenişehir and Bornova.

It is a cultural heritage education program developed for children to get to know the geography they live in with its history, culture and nature, and to carry their values to future generations.

The program, which can be applied to kindergarten, primary and secondary school age group children, is completed with ancient city tours after the workshop program in the classroom.

Involving non-governmental organisations in the decision-making process
It was made to provide financial and in-kind support to street artists whose activities were stopped during the Covid 19 pandemic period.

Between March 2020 and December 2021, coordination and implementation was provided in order to provide in-kind and financial support to street artists. In this direction, 4 meetings were held with NGOs and professional associations representing street artists, and the needs were determined. An action plan has been prepared in line with the needs.

Within the scope of the project, live performance recordings with street artists were taken and published in digital channels. Financial support was provided to 240 street artists in line with the performances. In addition, due to the lack of access to hygiene and food products at the beginning of the pandemic period, food and hygiene packages were distributed to the artists.

Within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between İzmir Bar Association and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality on 10.12.2020, it is aimed to make İzmir a “Human Rights Capital”. For the first time in Turkey, with the mission of a local government to provide equal and fair access to all city services for the people who have no financial means, children’s rights, women’s rights, combating violence and refugee rights, in order to support the access of urban residents to justice in areas where social injustice is intense and far from the city center. It is aimed to get direct and free legal support to those in need.
BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT
The purpose of the Justice Tool, which firstly served in Limontepe district, is to provide this service free of charge to our compatriots who have never benefited from the assistance of a lawyer in their lifetime, and thus to prevent them from losing their rights.
Accessibility of the city, especially public buildings and public spaces (parks, sidewalks, beach, etc.)
The theme of the International Accessible Izmir Congress, which will be held every 2 years in 2021 for the 4th time, was determined as “Crisis Municipality and Access to Public Services” by the Engelsizmir Executive Board, due to the negative conditions of the pandemic, the congress was held in different workshops in a wider period of time with participants from the country and abroad. and it was decided to make it as a hybrid. In this context, Garden Therapy and Local Administrations Workshop, Parent Center, Needs and Possibilities Workshop, Pandemic, Earthquake and Disasters Crisis Municipal Workshop, as well as “National Cartoon Competition” and “National Short Film Contest” were organized.

You Have My Hand Project: Supporting the solution-oriented productivity of children in their locales with art works, taking into account universal values, accompanied by raising awareness of children; thus contributing to social life and enabling them to take part in social life.
Parent Information and Education Center Project: To ensure that parents with disabled children in Turkey are also included in the services their children receive.
Red Flag: One of the important outputs of the Accessible İzmir 2013 Congress process, organized by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, is the effort to give the ‘Red Flag’ to the indoor and outdoor spaces and transportation vehicles belonging to private or public institutions operating open to the public, which are made suitable for the access of people with disabilities.
Horticultural Therapy Garden Project: To improve the psychological-mental and physical well-being of participants through active or passive participation by structuring Therapeutic Horticulture (Gardening) programs. To create horticultural activity and therapy programs by completing the physical and design deficiencies of the existing garden.
